Movement is at the core of health.
And it's at the core of what I do.
We all want to move better and feel better. At the Studio at the Grange, my mission is to promote health and wellness through varied movement and mindful lifestyle changes. My core offering is Functional Movement, an approach that I have developed over the past 20 years. It combines aspects of several different movement modalities in which I have had extensive training. You can read more about my training below.
I have had a private practice teaching Pilates and other movement modalities for two decades. During that time, I have learned how people, myself included, can be very fit, strong, and still be unwell, or as one friend put it, a "fit wreck." I also learned how we can be fit, strong, pain free, healthy and enhance our longevity through wellness. Our body adapts to our movement habits: how well and how often we move.
It has been a goal to share the Studio with like minded teachers who value quality movement and teach from a well of solid training, experience and compassion, so it is a great pleasure to introduce Lily Laird, who will be teaching a mat based class and an equipment class on Saturdays. Lily is also available for private sessions.
Lily discovered her love of movement at a young age through dance and acrobatics. She began teaching dance at 19 and spent more than 13 years sharing her passion with students. After experiencing symptoms from autoimmue and joint disorders, Lily stepped back from teaching to focus on her own healing and recovery.
During physical therapy, she was introduced to Pilates and quickly embraced it as a way to rebuild strength, stability and mobility. As her personal practice
deepened, so did her passion for Pilates, eventually leading her to pursue teacher training. Lily has completed two comprehensive Pilates training programs and is certified through Balanced Body. To deepend her knowledge and understanding of Pilates for therapeutic movement she completed a variety of specialized courses including Pilates for scoliosis, chronic and autoimmune conditions, hypermobility, pre/post-natal, pre/post-op breast cancer rehabilitation and many more. Lily also earned a 200-hour Yoga certification and a TRX certification while exploring different movement and healing modalities.
Lily deeply believes in the transformative power of movement and understands firsthand how it can reshape both the body and the mind. Pilates has been an integral part of her own healing journey and she is passionate about helping others experience the benefits and reconnect with their bodies.

My Process
First we assess your current situation and your goals. From there, we create a plan of action, customized to specifically address your needs. The plan may include different movement styles, but is always uniquely designed for you. Then you’ll start working your program, while learning lasting skills that will translate into better functionality and quality of life.

My skill is teaching you new movement habits that elicit positive body change and enhance quality of life.
During the past 20 years I've enjoyed extensive training with many wonderful teachers that deepened my understanding of human movement. These include the M.E.L.T Method, Stott Pilates, MovNat, YogAlign, Restorative Movement and core based training. Even in my very first training, Pilates, I specialized in Pre-hab/Rehab. I found helping people move better made me really happy.
Restorative work has always been my specialty. While I've worked with people at both ends of the health spectrum and everything in between, I really enjoy teaching clients how to move better in order to free themselves from painful movement patterns and work towards healthy, pain-free movement. I have become skilled at breaking movement down to the components to make it easier for clients to understand and practice easily throughout the day.
In addition to movement, I teach mindful observation skills so that you can become your own movement detective. Once you begin to develop self-awareness, the changes you create in the moment and over time are observable.
Join us – you’ll love what you learn and how you feel!
